Lent begins this year with the blessing and distribution of ashes on Ash Wednesday, February 22. The services for Ash Wednesday are as follows:
8 am Mass
5 pm Scripture Service
7:30 pm Mass
In the pas we have had Lenten tradition of fasting and meatless Fridays. This year Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are fast and meatless days. In our diocese, the Fridays of Lent are also meatless. If you would like to add any more penitential practices, you are encouraged to do so.
Thanks to everyone who came out early this morning to help pack 400 lunches at the Methodist Church.
It was so great collaborating with another local Church to help others in need! We finished in record time…1 hour!! Everyone was so appreciative of our helping hands!
Tomorrow morning is the big day for actually serving the meals at St. Mary’s Cathedral. We originally asked for helpers to meet at St. John’s by 10:30am, but today we were told we need to be at St. Mary’s by 10:30am, so that will push our meeting time back to 10am in order to get to Trenton on time ready to serve! Please be prompt.
Please wear comfortable shoes since we will be doing a lot of walking back and forth! Thanks so much for making a difference in the lives of others!
